In April 2005 I left New Zealand to spend two months at ASP Weave (part of the Ann Sutton Foundation) in Arundel, in the south of England, with the help of a grant from Creative New Zealand, our Arts Council. At the time of applying for the grant, in 2003, I was in the finishing stages of my book on collapse weaves and I knew I needed new directions for my work, but had no idea where to go to next.
