Each year the Crafts Council awards the Jerwood Prize for various crafts, in rotation. In 2005 it was the turn of furniture, and the travelling exhibition consisted of the winner and the six runners-up. One of the venues was Cartwright Hall in Bradford. The exhibition's coordinator chose Bradford and District Guild of Handspinners, Weavers and Dyers to exhibit in the smaller room next door. Eight local organisations applied for the space so we weren't very popular in some quarters! But she insisted that textiles were the ideal complement to furniture and the committee, bless them, agreed.
