A few years ago our cathedral church in Dundee found itself at the focus of a painful dispute between a number of parties in the diocese. After many unhappy months a way forward was finally agreed on and the process of reconciliation could begin. It was at this point, in the spring of 2000, that I had an idea for a weaving. I was, and am, a member of the cathedral congregation. We all wanted to see our church move on from this difficult time and be restored as a place of healing and peace. The weaving I had in mind would fit this need in three ways: 1. it would be a co-operative venture, open to anyone who wanted to participate; 2. it would symbolise reconciliation through the use of the rainbow; 3. it would be a point of prayer of all who visited the cathedral in the future.
