摘要

When I became President of the Association I had not designed for, or done, any weaving for over thirty years. In that time I had gained a reputation as a designer, teacher and author in the field of knitting. Working, talking and visiting Guilds of the Association made me hanker to be involved in weaving again. This all coincided with a visit to Kathmandu where I visited carpet weavers. In talking with them, I realised I could use all my design and technical weaving skills if I worked with them! At this time I was half way through making work for my first one-man exhibition. If it were possible to work with the Nepalese weavers it would allow me to include weaving in my show and also take me full circle. I had originally trained as a weaver at the Camberwell School of Art where I had been taught by a dream team, Peter Collingwood, Tadek Beutlick and Barbara Sawyer.
