Firstly a big thank you to Sue Christian and Hazel Bijok for all their hard work as convenors for Summer School this year. Sue deserves extra praise for being on hand for the whole week, looking after everyone so well, and ironing out the odd little wrinkle as it cropped up; and all at the same time as being a student on one of the courses herself. This was my first Summer School, and I was amazed at what was packed into one week. As well as the classes, which ran at the very least from 9.30 - 5.30 (I'm sure lots of people went back after evening meal to carry on working), there were events every evening. We had illustrated talks by Paddy Bakker, on the Certificate of Achievement; Sue Hiley-Harris and Dot Seddon, on the Theo Moorman Trust; Frances and Tony Tompson, on Dyeing Discovered on their Travels; and Maxine Bristow, a lecturer at the college, showed us examples of her work, and explained how she arrived at her designs.
