摘要

The synthesis of (Ca,Mg) α-sialon powders using slag as a raw material by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) is reported for the first time. The phase assemblages of α-sialon hot-pressed from 1450℃ to 1700℃ were investigated. Results showed that α-sialon was the main crystalline phase in the whole sintering process, however, a small amount of β-sialon appeared in the samples sintered at 1500℃ and above, indicating the instability of α-sialon powder synthesized at elevated temperature. The disappearance of β-sialon phase could be obtained with the addition of slag to the slag α-sialon powder starting material. The non-equilibrium state of the SHSed α-sialon powder was discussed.
