The α-Ti foil with a protective layer formed on one side was deflected during corrosion in 0.1mol/L H_2SO_4. This was due to the induced tensile stress developed in the surface passive layer of the sample. The extra tensile stress grew gradually, and reached a maximum value of σ~p_max=313Mpa. This stress Approached the yield stress of α-Ti. The induced tensile stress would react with the loading stress Synergistically during SCC, thereby facilitating the emission and motion of dislocation. In this respect, SCC cracks could nucleate in a lower applied stress(or lower K_I).
