摘要

Because of their high specific properties and improved high temperature capability, continous fiber reinforced Ti-MMCs for use as compressor disc materials are anticipated to enable a radical change in design from the conventional heavy disc and blades to a bladed ring (bling) which can result in up to 70/100 weight saving. However, manufacture of hoop reinforced Ti-MMC rings for bling application remains a challenge to materials scientists and engineers.
