摘要

Growth features of aluminium carbide interfacial crystals in vacuum infiltrated aluminium-carbon fibre composites have been studied. With the aid of transmission electron microscopy it was shown that some of these crystals are twins. One often registrated orientation relationship between metal matrix and carbide crystals corresponds to the Solidification texture of aluminium. Use of dark field technique revealed not only carbide formation on the fibre Surface, but also in a volume of the fibres.
