摘要

The reinforcement, first of metals and later of ceramics, has been made possible by the development of filaments possessing remarkable properties. Light alloys were reinforced by carbon and boron fibres in the 1960s however developments of oxide fires in the 1970s and particularly of silicon carbide based fibres in the 1980s have allowed the creation of new families of high temperature structural materials. These structural materials do not however show the thermal stability of monolithic ceramics due to changes in the microstructures of the reinforcements when heated to high temperatures.
