The number of cases of skin cancer believed to have been caused by ultraviolet radiation has doubled over a ten year period in Australia, signifying a very alarming rate of increase. Results of recent investigations (1989) carried out on people who work outdoors have shown that half of those surveyed are already suffering from the preliminary stages of skin cancer, or so-called teratoma.
