Up to 20 to 25 years ago the lubrication of knitting machines did not cause many problems as machine speeds were not very high. It was simply a matter of using mineral-oil-based lubricants. Anti-wear additives and other wear-reducing additives (corrosion protection) were hardly ever used. And if they were, then only in small amounts.
