摘要

A Boussinesq equation is derived using the depth averaged velocity with the series expansion of the velocity potential as a product of powers of the depth of flow, in order to model the nonlinear transformation of surface wave and nearshore currents in shallow water. An ADI method is used to solve the derived equation. Moreover, in order to verify the Boussinesq equation model for the calculation of wave motion around an offshore barrier in shallow water, laboratory experiments were made with offshore detached breakwater. The wave height and depth-averaged velocity distributions were measured in detail and compared with results of the numerical simulation.
