In October of 2011, D&G Boring of Smyrna, Georgia, a leading auger bore contractor in the Southeast U.S., began a project which involved installing approximately 30 miles of 36" Treated Effluent Pipeline from Lauderdale County to Kemper County, Mississippi. The purpose of this project was to supply water for the cooling towers of the new Southern Company Power Plant. The water supply was reuse water from a sewer treatment plant, with funding provided by Southern Company Power. The 12-month project started on October 10th, 2012, with a deadline of September 5, 2013, the date by which Southern Company Power had to have water in the reservoir.
