Language, culture, and community in teacher education, edited by Maria Brisk, is a collection of articles answering the question: 'What do teachers need to know to teach culturally and linguistically diverse students?' As the student population in schools becomes more diverse, teachers are faced with students whose languages, cultures, educational experiences, and expectations are far different from their own.
