In 2007 production grew by around 9% in Germany. This continued to be the trend in the first months of 2008, although with a tendency to level off. In the first half of 2008 pairage production in Germany was up by around 1 %. However our extrapolations from the official data of the Federal Statistical Office reveal that there are significant variations between different types of footwear. Whereas there were double-figure increases in the production of sandals and sandalettes, leather walking shoe pairage production fell by 10% or more.
