Federally Inspected Slaughter for the 4-week period ending May 25, 2013, was estimated at 638,700 against 638,000 a year earlier. This compares with 609,750 against 604,000 in our last report. Slaughter amounted to 12,640,000 for the year to date which was 1.7% below the previous year or 218,000 fewer head. Export sales of raw hides for the period showed China in top spot with 1,053,000 (1,103,700); S Korea with 243,700 (420,000); and Taiwan with 128,600 (99,599). Mexico came next with 66,800 (22,300); Vietnam took 57,100 (40,600); Thailand 47,500 (16,500) and Hong Kong 20,100 (6,400). Finally came Japan with 16,100 (16,700) and Italy with 13,200.
