The US's decision to ban imports of Brazilian beef has sent Shockwaves through the South American country's leather community. The decision, announced by US Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue at the end of June, comes after the US Department of Agriculture (USDA)'s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) refused entry of 11% of Brazilian beef imports since March, according to the National Cattlemen's Beef Association. Brazil currently ranks fifth in the list of beef exporters to the US, behind Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Mexico.
