摘要

In the continuous casting process, the tundishes are heated to high temperatures leading to high consumption of gas and to operational hazard due to heat and noise. The use of cold tundish eliminates these conditions, besides reducing production losses in case of emergency casting interruption, with the need to reheat the tundish. This paper presents the metallurgical and operational conditions for the use of a cold tundish and the resulting benefits.
