Steel continues to hold a prominent position in the area of materials. The steel industry has adapted itself to the changing economical conditions concerning its markets. Consolidation has been a major factor of its increased competitivity. Other factors of evolution are the development of the newer production routes and technologies, recycling and environmental requirements, E-business, etc.%L'acier conserve ses atouts face aux autres matériaux. L'industrie sidérurgique évolue pour tenir compte des facteurs économiques liés à ses marchés. Sa compétitivité est en progression constante grâce à une démarche de consolidation. Parmi les autres facteurs d'évolution, on peut citer les nouvelles filières et technologies de production, le recyclage et les préoccupations liées à l'environnement, le commerce électronique de l'acier, etc.
