Transcribed below is a book order from Alice Curteyne, wife of the Oxford bookseller Henry Curteyne, to the London bookseller Richard Royston, in which she requests at least eighty-three copies from seventeen contemporary editions. This document provides further primary evidence of the role of women in the English book trade, the trade in books between London and the provinces, and the Oxford book market in the middle of the seventeenth century.
