While disassembling a Continental C-90 that had not been flown in over 30 years I ran into a not terribly uncommon problem, which I decided to handle differently this time. Rather than hitting it with the propane torch, which always entails some risk of overheating, I instead used a heat gun and the pin slid right out. The one thing you do not want to do is whack on the pin with a hammer, especially with the rod installed on the crank, as you can damage the crank, the rod and more with the sideways force transferred from the hammer blows.
