At minimum, poor or improper rigging means lost airspeed. At its worst, it can mean a lost airplane. Go grab your airplane's maintenance logs, and start digging through them for the entry that says something along the lines of: "Control surface rigging checked and found in conformity with manufacturer specifications." We'll bet you come up empty.
