Well, as FAA regulations go, it's probably the easiest to understand. "No person may operate a product to which an airworthiness directive applies except in accordance with the requirements of that airworthiness directive." There it is, FAR Part 39.3, and what it means is that any and all applicable AD notes must be complied with before an aircraft is considered airworthy. But what happens if one is missed? What happens if your mechanic overlooked a directive aimed right at your airplane-are you to blame, or is he? And what do insurance companies think about it?
