With the arrival of late spring in some areas of the country, aircraft may have been sitting longer than usual in an unused condition. It's a good time to remind you that there are several important steps to take and tasks to perform before taking the bird out for the first time after a long period of inactivity, especially if you do not have the luxury of a hangar. It doesn't take long for all sorts of critters to take up residence as well as leaving corrosion causing droppings and urine behind. Standard corrosion does damage as well. Tires need to be carefully inspected for sidewall cracking, which occurs while the bird is sitting month after month unmoved. Hopefully you checked and assured that your tires never got to the point of becoming completely deflated, because there is a distinct chance it may have damaged your tubes or the tire cord irreparably.
