First, it's not just any certified aircraft. You must be an owner or part owner. You must be at least a private pilot, and follow a specific set of FAA guidelines with the professionalism, proper tools and current instructions the same way an A&P would. We did an entire article exclusively on this topic in the March 2014 issue of LPM, listing all 31 current items and comments about each. The current list is found in Appendix A (c) of Part 43 of the FARs.and there are currently 31. There has been little change over many years.
