摘要

There are many reasons why starting batteries have to be replaced too soon, especially wet-cell types. Among the most common problem is plate sulfation produced by the interaction between the electrolyte and the lead plates. Sulfation can collect over the plates, especially at the bottom, reducing battery capacity and life. Not keeping the battery fully charged is one cause of the development of this sulfation, which is more and more difficult to remove when the battery is allowed to stay at a low charge level.
