The newest crop of engine moni-tors has much more info avail-able, including data cards, various sizes for the panel, color displays and a host of newer refinements. That said, this primer is designed to give you insight into the many older systems found in many planes still flying today. If you have an older system or want to get in as cheaply as possible, this will help you decide what functions you really need. While the original GEM series has been replaced, the classic JPI700 is still available new, as is the IE UBG-16. But by all means, visit the current Web sites to see the remarkable variety and improvements and additional choices that have taken place. There is lots of good information.
