In a previous artide on oil changing you mentioned using Dow Corning DC-4 to lubricate the oil filter gasket. I looked online and could only find DC-4 dielectric grease. Is this the same stuff or is it different? It is also not cheap. Yes, it is exactly the same stuff. The description on the box is unfortunately misleading, but it's the correct product. DC-4 has a number of applications, including use for electrical connections and other forms oflubrication. Since it has a very high temperature capability, Champion recommends it for installing their aircraft filters, and for that purpose it works like a champ. You will wonder why you ever used plain, old oil once you use mis recommended product and stuck filters will be a thing of the past.
