Transport Design International (TDI) and Severn Lamb Transportation have revealed a new design for a standard-gauge light railcar, which has been under test at Long Marston in Warwickshire (UK). It is intended as the first of a new generation of vehicles and comprises a bi-directional, 18m-long, 2.6m wide diesel-electric railcar with 66 fixed seats and an overall carrying capacity of 120 passengers. It is capable of operating at speeds of up to 65km/h (40mph) and has modern HVAC and passenger information systems. The vehicle has been ordered by Konya Seker, a food processing company located in central Turkey.
