Edinburgh City Council has voted to back Transport Initiatives Edinburgh (TIE) in its dispute with contractor BSC, which is building the new tramway in Scotland's capital. The stance was agreed in a cross-party motion on 20 August.rnThe dispute has largely arisen over costs - with claims made that there are now 400 separate issues needing resolution, each of which could lead to increases in the GBP545m budget.rnEdinburgh's Liberal Democrat City Council leader, Jenny Dawe, acknowledged that the project was unlikely to be completed on time and within budget.rnShe said: "Having tried through informal means to sort out the differences between one part of the consortium and TIE, we've now reached the stage where we're having to go to a formal contract resolution and that is likely to take some time to sort out."
