An innovative shading and light system on the glass wall and ceiling panes have helped to revitalize a landmark church in Orange County, CA. When the 78,000-sq ft tower, designed by architect Philip Johnson, opened in 1981, it was the largest all-glass building in the world. In 2011, the Catholic Church purchased the cathedral and initiated a $72-million renovation. Central to the reimagined-and renamed-Christ Cathedral is the new lighting system designed by Los Angeles-based Francis Krahe and Associates.
