摘要

This article is excerpted from our book recently published by the University of Washington Press, titled Daylighting Design in the Pacific Northwest (2012). The projects featured in the book represent what we think are the best daylighting efforts in the current wave of sustainable design practice in the Pacific Northwest. They were selected because each presents new knowledge about synthesizing the light of place with the specific needs of human activity. The Wright Exhibition Space in Seattle is one of two daylighted galleries highlighted in the book. In this example, daylighting emphasizes sequence and rhythm for gallery patrons and illuminates both artwork and architecture in a simple and elegant manner.
