University-based lighting education is a fragile conduit that feeds the lighting industry with practitioners, new research, advanced theories, new technologies and innovative strategies. It is a critical part of this industry that creates new employees, jobs, new ideas, new products and a better informed clientele. Yet this vital industry resource is underfunded, under-supported, fractured and unsustainable.
