This issue contains the results of the IESRNZ Chapters' Lighting Design Awards and Luminaire Design Awards for 2015. Lighting Design Awards were conducted in New Zealand, NSW including the ACT, Victoria (including Tasmania) and Queensland this year; South Australia and Western Australia conduct theirs biennially. Luminaire Design Awards were conducted only on the Australian eastern seaboard this year. I'm sure that you'll enjoy the stories of the successful projects and luminaires. It is great to see designers being willing to submit their design work to the scrutiny of their peers and the public display of their successful work at the Chapter Awards dinners. The awards are a large undertaking by voluntary organisers and judges; every project is visited by judging panels. The awards also involve work for the designers in preparing their submissions and liaising with clients for access for judging purposes. The process takes three or four months, often in the dead of winter, to meet the awards timetables.
