Divorces can be the hardest thing a family can go through. They are not only hard for the children, but for the parents as well. Bob Dorris knows all too well how hard a divorce can be. In 2009, Bob and his wife got divorced. Bob's kids we're young at the time and the fact that he could no longer be a part of their everyday lives devastated him, Bob was in a dark place, but rather than stay in that dark place he decided to claw his way out and do something tor himself to make things better. Bob was always into customizing cars when he was younger and so he derided the best way to raise his spirits was to do something that he always wanted to do: build a custom classic lowrider. After finding nothing locatlly that he liked, Bob expanded his search and eventually found a '63 Impala in San Jose, California. After calling the owner and asking about it Bob hopped onto a plane to make the flight from Dallas to San Jose to see it in person with nothing but the clothes on his back and some cash in his pockets. The Impala ran and drove fine and was already painted candy green, but it still needed a bit of work. The owner was a former U.S. Marine and had named the car "Green Monster," a reference to the U.S. Marine Corps recruit handbook. This is the name that Bob would eventually keep tor the Impala, not just out of respect, but also for the monster of a build that it turned into over the next few years.
