The global appetite for lubricant additives reached 4.4 million tons in 2016, the latest year for which data is available, according to Kline & Co. The market has grown 2.6% per year since 2014 thanks to rising lube demand and a transition to higher quality lubricants. Worldwide thirst for additives should see about 1 % compound annual growth through 2021, but demand will shrink slightly in North America.
