As the busiest buying season hits the U.S. base oil market, the healthy trend in consumption, which has been recognized for over two months, continues. This may or may not be a good thing, according to some sellers. Although suppliers are delighted that demand has been sustained at a robust level, some customers are still seeking additional volumes over contract. The problem is that most - if not all - suppliers are dealing with low inventory positions. Any buyer's uptake over contractual quantities puts added pressure on availability, sellers say.
