We all want metalworking fluids that don't adversely impact workers, Ike Tripp, president of Etna Products in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, told the Metal Removal Fluid 2008 Symposium. That goal is simple, but protecting workers in the metal removal fluid environment is a complex and sometimes controversial subject. More than 220 delegates from industry (including fluid manufacturers, original equipment manufacturers and other fluid end-users), academia, government and labor gathered from Oct. 5 to 8 in Dearborn, Mich., for the first symposium on metal removal fluids in over a decade, sponsored by the Independent Lubricant Manufacturers Association, the Automotive Industry Action Group, the American Industrial Hygiene Association and UEIL, the European Union of Independent Lubricant Manufacturers.
