Apple used the occasion of its recent Worldwide Developer Conference to announce new versions of its two operating systems: OS X and iOS. Both will ship this fall, and both are chock-full of interesting stuff. The new version of OS X-dubbed 'Yosemite'-features an overhauled user interface, updated system components such as Spotlight, and revisions of its built-in apps, including Safari and Mail. The upcoming version of iOS-iOS 8-sports a similar revamping, plus a wave of third-party apps, thanks to some powerfully simple new programming tools that Apple is making available to app developers.
