Adobe seems to have all the business acumen of a dead hedgehog. When my G5 iMac was repaired recently, I was upgraded from Tiger to Leopard (long story). Most of my essential apps continued to work, except Photoshop 7. "No problem", I thought, "I'll buy Elements - it's got most Photoshop functions for a fraction of the price." An Adobe salesman assured me that Elements 8 would run on a G5. Needless to say the installation aborted — it needs an Intel Mac. I got a refund, but apparently the last version to run on a G5 is Elements 6. So you'd think it would be available from Adobe's website as a paid-for download? Nope. Nor is there a copy available on eBay or anywhere else. An entire platform has been disenfranchised by Adobe, for no good reason. I've tried Pixelmator (good, but its Select tools aren't good enough), and GIMP (far too counter-intuitive). But what I really want is Elements. There must be many G4 and G5 owners out there in a similar fix.
