The picture regarding the iPad 2 is fast becoming clearer. German site MacNotes.de cited "reliable sources" that claim the iPad 2 will get a US launch in April, with releases in international markets (such as the UK) happening three months later. MacNotes.de said these dates fit in with the activities of component manufacturers, including Foxconn, which is reportedly expanding its manufacturing capabilities to meet demand for iPad 2. Speculation remains rife regarding its capabilities, but reports suggest a boost to the iPad's resolution isn't on the cards. The discovery of an 'iPad x2' bookmark icon in iBooks suggested Apple might double the iPad's screen resolution to a Retina display-like 2,048 × 1,536, but Apple subsequently removed the graphic; and despite mooted hardware improvements to the A4 chip, quadrupling the number of pixels would increase costs or require too much power to be feasible.
