摘要

This article offers some insights into the issues raised by the Oscar-nominated documentary Gasland and how the evidence presented in the movie should be evaluated. Issues associated with hydraulic fracturing of shale gas and tight gas sands in the United States have ignited an international controversy over the environmental impact of such development. In the Oscar-nominated documentary Gasland (2010), filmmaker Josh Fox takes a broad look at the dangers of hydraulic fracturing. Gasland has become one of the primary drivers for engendering public concerns concerning hydraulic fracturing operations in the United States and around the world. This raises two important questions.
