摘要

Nowadays nonwoven is one of the useful materials for the variety of technical textile applications. Needle punching technology is the mechanical bonding method for manufacturing nonwoven fabric. Calendering is important finishing process for nonwoven which not only changes the surface characteristics of the fabric but also improves the look of the fabric. It decreases thickness, smoothing the surface and improves the luster of the nonwoven fabric. Calendering process affects on the surface as well as physical properties of needle-punch nonwoven fabric with the decrease in porosity and air permeability and increases in density. It also provides lower thermal resistance and better thermal conductivity. Mostly needle-punch calendered nonwoven fabric is used for technical textile applications such as geotextile filtration etc. This paper gives a review on effect of calendering process on behavior of needle-punch nonwoven fabric.
