Textile industry consumes large amount of water and chemicals for processing and dyeing of fabric. The toxic nature of synthetic dyes and finishes creates more problems to the textile processing industries. Therefore eco friendly substances as alternative to toxic synthetic chemicals are utmost priority for the researchers and industrialists. The growing demand for eco friendly and sustainable products is playing an important role in promoting use of natural dyes and biopolymer based finishing agents on commercial scale. In the present study cotton fabric was dyed with pomegranate rind as natural dye with harda as natural mordant and biopolymer Chitosan was applied to impart antibacterial properties.
