摘要

The main purpose of this research was to study the colour fastness properties of acacia catechu and vat dyes on Cotton/Banana union fabric. Visual inspection was carried out on the cotton/ banana union dyed fabric with respect to brilliance of colour, evenness of colour, texture and general appearance. On visual inspection the cotton/banana union fabric, dyed with acacia catechu was found better for all the parameters than vat dyed fabric. The samples were subjected to various colour fastness properties to sunlight, laundering, pressing (dry and wet), perspiration (acid and alkaline), and crocking (dry and wet). It was observed that the cotton/ banana union fabric dyed with acacia catechu showed better performance with respect to colour fastness properties when compared to the cotton/banana union fabric dyed with vat dye. Acacia catechu was found to be a suitable dye for cotton/banana union fabric.
