摘要

India is basically an agrarian country with approximately 70 per cent of its population dependent on agriculture and allied industries for livelihood. There is an exponential increase in the use of chemical sprays (pesticides) for the control of diseases, insect and pest in the agricultural fields that affects the crops and induces the health hazard in human beings. Pesticides also destroy many parasites and predators living with in the area of application of the insecticides besides pests and insects. The pesticides are used by farmers primarily to protect their crops to increase crop yield. Extensive use of field pesticides in agriculture necessitates the wearing of protective clothing that is impermeable to hazardous liquids. In the present investigation an endeavour has been taken for constructing the protective clothing. Renewable finish (starch) was applied over the constructed apron as protective clothing along with its accessories because it covers the maximum part of the body from the spray spills. Apron had full sleeves, closed neck, full length of body front and half length of body back. It also provides ease of putting on and putting off because it can be worn easily over the existing dress worn by the farmers. Comfort properties of apron were assessed with respect to hand, comfort and appearance by pesticide applicators.
