The Tirupur Exporters Association (TEA), Knit cloth Manufacturers Association (KNITMA) and South India Imported Machine Knitters Association (SIIMKA) have finally agreed to give 32 per cent hike in the basic salary of textile workers employed in its member units over a period of four years. The agreement on salary revision was arrived at a specially arranged wage revision talk with trade unions, held in the presence of Minister for Hindu Religious and Endowment M.S.M. Anandan, at the Collectorate. The meeting was-hastily arranged as impasse was continuing between the said associations and trade unionists even after the other major textile associations in Tirupur knitwear cluster like South India Hosiery Manufacturers Association, Tirupur Exporters and manufacturers Association and Tirupur Export Knitwear Manufacturers Association had signed the wage pact with the trade unions in January.
