The Union Government approved project is ordered by the Chief Minister.rnAt the foundation stone laying ceremony for constructing stalls for marketing handicraft items made by traditional artisans here, the Union Minister stated the silk park project at Kilkathirpur, located almost six km away from Kancheepuram town, was yet to take off as the weavers had sought dwellings on the park premises itself.rnSkepticism on the project feasibility arose recently, after three private entrepreneurs pulled out of it. While the government plans to ensure participation of around 115 private entrepreneurs, only 24 private players have so far registered for the project.rnAlmost 90 per cent of the process is done.
