Irrespective of mordanting methods 1 percent potash alum, 3 percent potassium dichromate, 1 percent copper sulphate and 2 percent ferrous sulphate were found to be the best considering the dye absorption values and shades for dyeing UAS sheep breed samples with the optimized dyeing conditions like dye extract time and dyeing time-45min. and mordanting time 15 min. with a wave length of 640 1. Tints and shades of browns with potash alum and greens with copper sulpahte and black with ferrous sulphate were obtained using Acacia catechu leaf dye extract for UAS breed wool.
